Gales is the culmination of over 15 combined years of experience in performing heavy metal. Past bands associated with this group were Trenchfoot, Hatred Divine, Vanzetti, and Take Their Hearts. All of those bands were on the scene starting around 2000; producing several cd's, ep's, and compilations with touring about the United States. This includes sharing the stage with such acts as Superjoint Ritual, Unearth, Biohazard, Byzantine, Chimaira, In Flames, GoatWhore, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, and numerous other nationals.

Why this name?
We were torn between an idea board full of names. Over the course of a few months, Gales was elected through a vote. Matt the drummer is really into sailing and has an intense obsession with pirates, so I guess this works for him.
Do you play live?
We've been together for almost a year now, and have been through several musicians in the process. Taking time on developing these musicians and material, we have only had a few shows which have been amazing. We've played through lower Michigan and Northern Ohio with plans to move about the state by the new year.
The majority of the band lives south of Detroit where as Dave lives in Kalamazoo. A man who wears suspenders likes to party, what can we say.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet opens up an ocean of people to your music. The potential for promotion is epic. However, there are the scumbags out there that are just looking to scam all of these artists with false hopes of fame through shady promotion offers, and rediculous amounts of pre-sale tickets. Gales is STRONGLY against these characters.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Gales is seeking a record label; sign us.
Currently the band is unsigned and is independantly recording and promoting their material with anticipation of a full length release in 2009. Over the course of the last month, Gales has performed several shows throughout Michigan and Ohio with hopes of moving into a touring circuit should appropriate management present itself that isn't in it to scam kids on presale ticket money.

Band History:

It's a simple plan that seems to be working.

Your influences?
Our musical influences range from John and his melodic / southern rock style (pantera, soilwork), Matt's snazzy black metal (the black dahlia murder, carcass, amon amarth), Noel's murderous hardcore (whitechapel, the acacia strain), Dave's epic Randy Rhoads shredding ability, and Mike's melodic death style (skeletonwitch, in flames, scar symmetry) all fuse together within Gales to form what is our music.
Favorite spot?

Johnny Socko uses: Jackson Rhoads (emg 81/85), Dean Dime, Boss Effects, Marshall AVT head, Randall Cabs (celestion), yellow picks
Dave uses: Gibson Les Paul (duncan pickups), Clear guitar (yes, its sexy), Randall head and cab, Line 6 pod xt (midi), Rocktron effects, AKG wireless

Presently, Gales is investigating an artist endorsement with Madison Amplifiers.
