The Zachary J Band is a pop/rock sensation local to The DC/Metropolitan area. This energetic group will catch your ears with their infectious grooves and soulful harmonies. And if that doesn’t get your attention, you can be sure to grab a few minutes of getting to know them, either after a show or in an online dialogue. These guys know exactly what’s important: you!
Why this name?
For a while Zach was a solo artist. As new players and old friends were brought in to play out the sound of the music changed as each person brought their perspective to the table. Since the name 'Zachary J' was already out there it seemed that tagging 'Band' onto the end wouldn't lose any noteriety while recognizing the input of the other members.
Do you play live?
We play live all the time. From intimate acoustic shows with just Zach and Jon to fully plugged in and loud electric shows. We recently headlined the local Oktoberfest. It was a fabulous night of music and people.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet gives the power back to the listener to choose what music they listen to. Gone are the days of only being able to hear the select few artists that actually make it to radio.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If someone believes in what we are doing, yes.
Your influences?
From loud rock, to intimate ballads with an r&b twist we love it all. From the Beatles to Stevie Wonder to Rascal Flatts to Hanson to John Mayer to Switchfoot. We love variety in music and we soak it up like a sponges.
Favorite spot?
still to be determined
Equipment used:
We are proud to use Breedlove acoustic guitars, fender electrics and amps, warwick basses, yamaha drums, keyboards and consoles, shure and sennheiser mics. Jon also uses a good number of pedals for his guitar (Dunlop, MXR, Fulltone...)
