Dare to leave your world behind and enter an everlasting realm of eclectic cacophony, diverse sanity, and warped perception? While you wander about in this strange new world, a musical army of one, NATAS, shall provide the twisted soundtrack for your journey... Ever since Joey Kamiya launched this "solo project" back in November 2001, NATAS has developed a somewhat original sound, with macabre thoughts, ideas, plots, and images creeping behind each original tune. Described by many as "trippy" music, the majority of Joey's songs are greatly influenced by horror movies, serial killers, apocalypse, and other studiously "evil" topics (with an occassional "normal" song every now and then). It's sure to be an eerie journey... would you like to come along for the ride?
Why this name?
Boredom/loneliness. I was writing stuff backwards like REDRUM from "The Shining." NATAS sounded pretty cool.
Do you play live?
NATAS is a solo studio project. I do play live with other bands though. It's an awesome feeling performing in front of an audience.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The Internet is a great source for unsigned or underground musicians. And mp3s are a great form of promotion.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
As long as they don't screw me over...
Your influences?
Marilyn Manson, Nirvana, CKY, Buckethead, The Misfits, Joe Satriani, The Doors, horror movies...
