We're an experimental hardcore / metal band from western Massachusetts. For us, music is all about having a good time and trying to create something that people can relate to. It's also about being whacky, passionate, and goofy as hell. There are too many bands, heavy or not, that are just going through the motions and not trying anything new. We're not going to sit here and vouch for our material in comparison to anyone else's out there, but we certainly put a lot of time into attempting innovation. Oh, plus phatty beats. You gots to have the phatty beats.

Check out our songs on this page. They're all downloadable for free!

There Was Change is:

Christian Savaria: Vocals
Justin Fleuriel: Guitar
Sean Fleuriel: Bass Left / Vocals
Jason Silverman: Bass Right
John Blunt: Drums

Drop us a line at www.myspace.com/therewaschange. Seriously, do it!
Why this name?
Taxi Driver yo
Do you play live?
We love to play out, anywhere and everywhere. We do it as much as we can, usually a couple of times a month. Book us?
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
mp3's and downloading are a great way of breaking down the corrupt recording industry. So much of popular music is complete crap, and so many of those big labels walk all over the bands they sign. Let's take economics out of the situation and get back to where music should be. That said, we definitely think it's important to support the bands you like by going to shows and buying merch. We post all of our material for people to download for free. Burn CD's, tell your friends, whatever. Just spread the word.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Heh...only if we could retain all creative input on our stuff.
Band History:
John, Justin, Jason, and Sean started jamming together in the spring of 2005. Christian joined the guys during the summer of 2006 and things really started rolling. That's about it yo.
Your influences?
Wow, there are way too many to list. A Life Once Lost, (Old) Norma Jean, Converge, Meshuggah, MeWithoutYou, Seemless, Lamb Of God, Senses Fail, Ed Gein, Primus, Ion Dissonance, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravanganza ...to name a few.
Favorite spot?
hometown buffet
Equipment used:
Christian uses his throat in crazy ways that we don't even want to try and describe.

Justin plays a Schecter C-1 Elite Guitar through a Peavey XXX Head and a Marshall JCM800-1960A Lead Cab (that used to belong to Dinosaur JR, lolz)

Sean plays a Fender Jaguar bass, through an MXR M-80 Bass Distortion pedal, to a Mesa stack with an M-Pulse head, a 4x10 and a 1x15 cab.

Jason plays a Lakland 55-01 Bass and a Warwick Corvette Standard Fretless, through a Boss ME-50B pedalboard, a Crybaby 105Q Bass Wah, and into an Ampeg B1RE rig with a BBE Sonic Maximizer and a B410HLF cab.

John Blunt plays a 4-piece Sonor Kit with Sabian Symbols.
Anything else...?
Well we're really just a bunch of goofballs who like weird music and phatty beats, so there's not much else to say. But hey, contact us about anything, especially if you've downloaded our stuff. We love giving our music out for free, but it's hard to know who's listening to it. So, if you dig, tell us!

We're always looking to play shows too, so if you have a venue or a slot by all means let us know.
