Beats UNLTD a.k.a Blacklight -- Three products of Texas who met in rapid pursuit of further education. Three cats with the same musical tastes. Three musicians with diverse styles and the gift of versatility. ONE unit with an uncanny ability to craft tracks with vision and heart.
Why this name?
Blacklight: In college we used to replace all of the lights in our dorm room with blacklights, and for other more obvious reasons as well. Suave: The name given by some cats back in the 8th grade to describe his "playa' disposition", stuck with him ever since.
Do you play live?
Most tracks are composed in house. Suave performs regularly! Get @ him for scheduled dates -- soundclick.com/suave --
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives those who love good, quality music a chance to listen before they put their hard earned money into the pockets of those more fortunate. There's been a lot of watered-down material put out in the past couple of years and consumers want to know they're gettin' their money's worth. We feel it helps artists get exposure and forces the industry to re-think their current marketing strategies. In other words, it's a good shift and a wake-up call.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the contractual stipulations are on point, we'd be more than happy to ink a production deal. Although, with a decent amount of knowledge, some drive and connections you can make things happen for yourself these days.
Band History:
K.D. "Produce Man" White is a former Kimball High band member who is proficient with both the Baritone and Trombone. His musical knowledge and experience seems unlimited at times. He's by far the illest producer the world has yet to hear. They will soon enough! Marcus "Suave a.k.a. Da Ink-Pen Pimp a.k.a. Suavezilla" Dade will prove to be the lyrical savior of hip-hop one day soon. His versatility and wordplay is enough to make your favorite emcee hit the rewind button more than a few times. Suave gets better with each verse he spits and doesn't seem to be losing momentum anytime soon! Nate "Flames" Smith started out writing 16's to stay sharp mentally when KD showed him an untapped talent and an ear for music and production. From that point he took up producing full-time, but he still picks up the pen when feeling inspired. Collectively Suave and Blacklight feel that they are just as talented as any man, woman, or group in the industry.
