play lo-fi play hi-fi  Goodnight
I'm just your everyday, friendly, neighborhood beat-junkie idly waiting for the day he can afford an MPC.
Why this name?
Because all the good ones were taken
Do you play live?
Not at the moment. I'm a producer right now, but I hope to get my mixing and mastering skills down to DJ at clubs. That would just dandy.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
A lot of the legendary classic artists like to come down on the internet when it comes to music, but that's really the one thing I don't see eye to eye with them on. The internet's done a lot to give wannabe artists like me a chance to chase the spotlight. It's also opened a lot of people up to hear great songs they may not have heard before and probably may not hear without this series of tubes we call the internet. I think the big problem the older artists have with the internet and music is the whole piracy thing. The way I see it, if people are going out of their way to pirate my work just to listen to it or even to use it as their own, I must be doing something right.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably not. Big business does a crazy thing to people in the music industry. When people see all of those dollar signs, they'll do anything to keep them. That and the fact that signing those things is pretty much the equivalent of dealing with the devil. You'll get what you want at first, but in the long run it ends up killing you.
Band History:
Well I originally wanted to be a rapper, mostly due to the fact that I was tired of how commercialized and mainstream hip hop was becoming so I wanted to be one to sort of bring it back to the Golden Age when it was more about lyrics than what kind of bottles you're popping off in the club or what you're rollin' on or what kind of kicks you're rockin'. Then I realized I hated my voice, so I moved to my second passion, the backbone of all hip hop songs: the instrumentals. So I spent about a year fooling around with FL Studio and Reason and here I am now.
Your influences?
I'd have to say Flying Lotus, Boonie Mayfield, Madlib, J Dilla, MF Doom, Babu, Pete Rock, 9th Wonder, SAMIYAM, DJ Premiere, and Questlove. There's probably a lot more, but those are a few that come to mind.
Favorite spot?
Really anywhere with a big city type of place, like Manhattan. I hate silence.
Equipment used:
FL Studio, Reason, ReCycle, Cool Edit 3 (Adobe Audition), and a lowly M-Audio Keystation 25 O2 (well, it gets the job done).
Anything else...?
Crack is whack, kids
