This is Cire J'onzz coming out of VA. I'm the one-man-everything man. Production, lyrics, singing, rapping (though I shouldn't)...you want it I got it.
Why this name?
My freshman year this guy in my dorm suggested I take my first name and spell it backwards. J'onzz is my boy's last name spelled with a twist.
Do you play live?
I've only done a few shows on campus at ODU. My most special moment was the reaction I got from a high note I hit while covering "Superstar" by Usher...I'm a sick beast (^_^)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet makes music more accessible, which cuts down on production and purchase costs.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
As long as I can pay off my student loans and live.
Band History:
I sang in church as a child, but I didn't think of music as a profession until my freshman year in college. I hooked up with a manager/producer in 2004, the relationship soured, and I became Mr. Do-It-Myself. I produce and engineer my own music and I write my own lyrics (with occasional suggestions from friends).
Your influences?
I listen to alot of neo-soul (Musiq Soulchild, Floetry, Erykah Badu) and Southern rap (Rich Boy, Plies)...but my music doesn't sound like any of that.
Favorite spot?
Hampton & Norfolk, VA, Beaufort, SC
Equipment used:
Compaq laptop, condenser mic, and Acid Music Studio.
