The founding members of The City and Skyway have a long and colorful history. Some of their past line-ups include members from Dashboard Confessional, Lifetime, Hey Mercedes, The Promise Ring, Maritime, Weston, Limbeck, and the Benjamins.
Co-founder of The City and Skyway Barry Johnston, spent many years on and off the road producing, writing, and recording records. When he wasn't at home writing or recording you could find him out on the road touring as an engineer for bands like The Alkaline Trio, Bad Religion, The Promise Ring, and Anthrax...
In the winter of '06 Johnston and fellow comrades in arms Eric Wilke and Mitch Lyon came together to start working on what would become The City and Skyway.
The trio went into the studio to begin working on their first release. They emerged with a sound that stands somewhere in the midst of indie pop, but with but with a touch of punk flare. The self reflective subjet matters are easily digestible, but by no means do they gloss over the human condition. Offering up wounds for listeners to dissect is nothing new. They just do it in a more forgiving way. With the release of the "Compose Yourself" EP, The City and Skyway has comprised a five song flurry of energy and power draped in melodically driven hooks. They are definitely the real deal, a force to be reckoned with.

Do you play live?
Yes we do play live and are looking to play shows all over the midwestern states currently. We love it, it's who we are as individuals who have come together to write and create tunes that we feel are real and valid musically. As for "any special moments,"The first time we stepped into a room together and played we clicked.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives people the opportunity to have their music heard by anyone anywhere.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends on the type of deal that would be offered. It would have to be good for all parties involved, in other words.
