Drew's Cruisers is blues/rock/folk/jazz 4-piece playing in Northern Minnesota. We're Aaron on guitar, Craig on tenor sax/keyboards, Tracy on bass, and Drew on drums! Our CD of our originals is called "Naked Fire."
Why this name?
It was a label given by the bar owner to whoever Drew was playing with during open-stage night. It eventually carried over to this incarnation. the four of us have been playing together as Drew's Cruisers since March 2002.
Do you play live?
We are the house band for Jammer's Blue Note Ballroom north of Bemidji, Minnesota. We play for parties, music festivals, Green Party fundraisers, or just to provide music at the club.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the Internet has great potential to let artists get their music out to folks without having to go through the record label machine.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I think we would have to look at the fine print very, very carefully first!
Band History:
The current band was formed when Tracy showed up for an "open stage" one night at Jammer's at Craig's invitation and played a set with the guys (the open stage was to attract a crowd for a blues band from Chicago). A week later, the band played for a wedding party, and we've been together ever since. Our CD contains nine originals that we've developed over the last year-and-a-half.
Your influences?
"'Dead-and-Dylan-inspired blues, folk, rock, and jazz."
Favorite spot?
If we didn't like it up here, we wouldn't stay here!
