Chiki is a Pop singer/songwriter/Performing Artist who grew up in Boston. After making a name for herself at a young age writing, directing and producing her own original musicals fusing Pop with Musical Theater, she began working in 'girl bands'. She got her feet wet with songwriting and combined efforts with the areas most sought after producers to help create her own unique sound.
Why this name?
Childhood Nickname
Do you play live?
I was always involved in any community theater projects growing up and organizing street shows as a kid. When I started going solo as 'Chiki', first I played in dives and charity, basically any place that would book me. Once I started gaining notoriety as a pop artist, I was invited to play in Mall shows with people like Kat Deluna and Lucas Prata. From there, I've been opening for people like Jesse McCartney, Jonas Brothers, Natasha Beddingfield, Metro Station, Leona Lewis and many more. I really like all ages shows, the vibe is always the happiest and without pretense.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Good and Bad. Good because it can give an indie artist the chance for their music to be exposed and learn about the craft of songwriting and artist development without a major label. Bad because the MP3 has really become secondary to what an artist is. The music is not as important, it's more if the artist is liked or not.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe. I would want a lot creative control.

Your influences?
I am a mix because I have a very ecelectic appreciation for music. I am POP, that's how I would classify myself. Catchy but not too slicked over- I am quirky so that comes out in my music. Mostly what I try to funnel through my music is feel good emotions and or something honest. I'm different than a lot of pop artists because I am influenced by popular culture but I am not superficial about it.
Favorite spot?
Boston-North End
Equipment used:
Microphone of course, I'm a singer and that's my main instrument. When I'm writing, I use the Piano but I am mostly ear trained. I just started learned Protools because I just started producing also.
