I am an artist. A martial, musical, literary, and traditional one. I do it all. I would love to be heard and seen worldwide someday in the near future, and I'll do whatever it takes to get there! If you listen to my message and my vision, I'm sure you can see that I have a unique and progressive style! Help bring this to a bedarkened world so that their appendages may be removed and enlightnenment engulf them...
Why this name?
My name is Jason K. Addae. Originally I called myself Joka the Technician derived from my real name and my nickname on the highschool wrestling team. In college, while recording my first album, I shortened it to Jokatech to simplify it and also because studio techs had a nack for misspelling it which annoyed me. That was in 2003. It's stuck with me ever since, even though at times I've been told to change it because it's too underground. But my response to that has always been, "A name is a name. I have to feel it. Then I'll make the world respect it!"
Do you play live?
I use to perform at the Pyramid it Manhattan on the E.O.W nights, and at the Neurican ( i can't spell) poetry lounge for a few years. Since then, I've been trying to set up my own show which has proved difficult. I got tired of one song performances and I want a full concert to at least showcase 45 minutes of my music and antics(I'm a clown). I have about 5 albums.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet provides safety to a degree for the music industry. Piracy, unfortunately, will only increase, and most artists make their money on tours. Alot of artists that you think are living lavish are barely hanging on. Music sales have dropped. But with the internet, even in this falling economy, artist have an outlet where they can attract virtually everyone and still earn money off of music sales. The good this is that CD's are outdated, so now that the Mp3 player has taken over, artists can counter pirates by releasing albums on the web where most patrons get their music anyway. Very clever.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes and no. Talking with alot of my colleagues, like The Cozy 3, I've been told that if you join a label not only will you lose creative control, but also money due to their tight budgets and large cuts from album sales- versus being independent and keeping profits. Label only throw big money into already big stars. I agree with this thinking, however I don't think the money should be your initial focus. Without commercial backing, even if you do clean up one or two years, you won't have staying power. Therefore, I wouldn't hesitate to join a major label that gave me a chance, even if I lose exorbitant profits. The exposure and staying star power, I feel, will serve me better in the long run both monitarily, and optionally since I want to be more than a musician.

Your influences?
It's always hard for me to describe my influences because no one believes that someone can be all over the place. But I am inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Incubus, AZ, Nas, DJ Tiesto, and Robert Frost(my favorite poet) believe it or not. LOL
Favorite spot?
Of couse the greatest city is NYC! It's my hometown, it's versatile, energetic, and fun. I'm a Bronx man, but I love the Village area in Manhattan for its numerous latin music spots and poetry cafe's.
Equipment used:
I use to go to a studio where I used Protools with an MPC. He had the works. Now I work from home with FL Studio, a synth, a voice recorder, acoustic and electric guitar, traxxpad studio for PSP, and a voice recorder.
