Coincidence Theory (CT) is a solo entity: one person arranges and/or composes, performs and records the music. All songs are recorded and mixed at home.
Why this name?
"Coincidence theory" is a term I began using to indicate the actual theory of an event -- or number of events -- occurring because of coincidence (as opposed to something like fate or divine intervention). For example, if I traveled to a faraway city and happened to run into a long-lost friend I hadn't seen in years ... is that fate, or simply coincidence? Hence the phrase "coincidence theory." Of course, adopting it as my name does not necessarily mean that I always opt to believe in coincidence theory.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably not a major label, but perhaps a small one that supports the originality and direction of artists' visions. I'd prefer to retain all copyrights and creative control.
Band History:
Coincidence Theory is actually the second incarnation of my solo act -- I began using the name in 2001, after the previous name I'd chosen turned out to be not so original. I have composed music intermittently since 1991, and started playing the guitar in 1993.
Your influences?
This is always a tough question to answer because I always feel like I'm leaving something out. Many have left an impression, whether conscious or not. Among the conscious: jazz fusion, bossa nova, tango, '20s-'30s jazz/dance band music, film scores, alt-country, pop, a lot of acoustic music...

When you listen to my music, you'll hear a predominance of acoustic arrangements in a folk, singer/songwriter style: vocals, harmony vocals, and acoustic guitars. Every so often you'll hear electric guitars, percussion, and even digital and analog synths.
Equipment used:
Instrumentation: acoustic, classical & electric guitars, digital and analog synthesizers, percussion.

Recording: analog four-track, digital multi-track, all recorded and/or mixed onto a PC. MP3 compression by Lame. Ogg Vorbis format songs are available at the official Coincidence Theory site.
