I was born in Logan Utah. When I was three my family moved to Olympia Washington. My parents introduced me to their antique upright piano when I was five years old, and my love for the piano began. When I was ten my parents separated and I moved to Seattle, Washington with my mother and away from the piano. The next year I was given my first keyboard and I began to compose my first melodies. When I was 14 I moved back in with my dad and was reunited with the piano. In the years that followed I continued to create music on the piano. In early 2000 I got my first Roland synthesizer and began exploring different world music themes. In the ensuing years I expanded my repertoire and produced sixteen CDs. In 2005 my mother gifted me my very own piano. My music can best be described as melodic, emotional, and varied. My other passion is fine art. Since I was old enough to hold a pencil I was drawing mountains and nature landscapes. My band name is derived from my love of painting. All cover art is from my original paintings. The painting on the cover of 'What it Is to Love' was inspired by a trip my took with my girlfriend at the time to the Olympic Rain Forest in Washington State. My most recent exciting challenge was scoring the soundtrack for the animation short 'Patch' by William Sikora III, which he had only one day to do before it was to be released.
Why this name?
I have a passion for nature and painting original landscapes of it.
Do you play live?
At this point I don't play live, which is why if you like my music I would greatly appreciate your support by buying my downloads. :)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, it will help with making my music available to more listeners.
Band History:
Started playing piano when I was 12 years old and have never stopped.
Your influences?
Secret Garden, Moby, George Winston.
Favorite spot?
I love the Pacific Northwest.
Equipment used:
Play live on a piano and I compose music on a Roland Phantom keyboard.
Anything else...?
Please feel free to view my original art gallery. I just uploaded five photos of my paintings and scratchboards. If you would like to learn more about my artwork feel free to visit my website. www.ianahenderson.com I hope you enjoy!

Music
This a collaboration with the talented song writer and singer Anna Lang. I wrote the instrumentals and Anna wrote the lyrics and sung the song melody.
I just added a new section to this piece. I hope you like the extended version.
I just made a few tweaks, here is a more final version.
John Holgate agreed to provide his amazing electric guitar skills for the solo.
Collaboration with the talented Singer/songwriter Jennifer Pearl
I wrote this for 'Artificial Wonders' music project Aura. I created this one inspired by his soundtrack.
I am grateful to anyone who takes the time to comment on this track. Thanks
Compliments to John Holgate for the acoustic guitar part.
Emotional, Moody, melodic.
A pleasing new piano solo.
John did it again. Another great solo by John Holgate!
A Fun Dance Remake of 'What it is to Love'.
This piece is about a starving artist and his struggles finding his way in this world... hey that sounds like someone I know...
Sweet, Reflective, peaceful
Melodic, expansive, adventure music.
John Holgate provided the electric guitar solo.
Thanks to John Holgate for letting me use his bird call recordings. (Mt. Eccles Dawn Chorus)
Peaceful, melodic, the coming of spring
Recently this track was a victim of a drive by one star rating. Do you think that is fair? If people have helpful suggestions on how I can make it better, please let me know!
Soulful, a little sad, melodic
Moody, Melodic, Relaxing

Lovely peaceful flow, gentle ripples of piano arpeggios capped by very sensitive and expressive melodies on well chosen instruments. You are a master of this genre without a doubt. - Thanks for the listen - Derek
