Welcome to my page everyone! For starters I wanna thank all of you for simply coming thru and checking me out. The reason I made this page is for this reason exact, for this chance to be heard. Since the age of 13 being a part of this hip hop culture was already an interest set in my mind, this is something I have always wanted to do. I can clearly recall rapping over slick rick songs, krs one, and many other MC's at that age, driving my mother up the walls, her being Puerto Rican and not knowing much english. I can still hear her in the back of my mind today (turn that off that aint salsa that aint how i raised you). Obviously I was stubborn cause I never did, plus once I started sharing what I can do outside people were feeling me, the feedback was positive. And as a realist that boosted my self esteem to wanna take things even further, otherwise I would not have continued, cause like I said I'm a realist. With that being said, everything I bring to the table I put 100% into, and being Puerto Rican gives me the opportunity to add extra flavor to my music. Therefore don't hesitate, pass me up, or make the attempt to collect $200 without check me out. ----Benny Blanc from The Bronx......
Why this name?
My name was given to me at birth the "Blanc" part was later added, by the people around me, by the streets. When I first started rapping I use to call myself Mad-Flo, back when everyone was Mad-This and Mad-that, I was Mad-Flo.
Do you play live?
Right now I'm just focused on finishing my latest album " Man Before Anything". In saying that, I feel confident that once I start performing live in big events, I'm gonna make a buzz and I wanna be able to have all the missles locked and loaded.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
My opinion on that is viewed from 2 different perspectives. While giving artists like myself, who would like to explorer different options, oppose to those at hands reach. The internet offers the opportunity to network across the world with different labels, productions, and marketing companies, which is all good I love the idea. At the same time it also makes it just as a difficult to reach out to your targets, cuz there are individuals who lack talent, that just flood the network with garbage and waste time. I can imagine the fustration A&R's and Major Labels face combing thru the internet for someone with the talent they looking for, and vice versa.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes. However I am very selective on who I would sign a contract with and the kind of contract to be signed. Because although I may be given the chance to be a part of a label, It wont help me none if I am going to be shelfed for years before I'm able to distribute an album. Im a Man Before Anything.
Your influences?
I would have to say KRS ONE, he is definitely hip hop in every aspect of the culture. He is an artist who I have followed since I started rapping, and I admire his dedication and the work he has put in. Most of all he stood for what he believed in and that's the perfect definition of a grounded individual.
