With a voice that truly captivates and a gift for soulful melodies, Sabrina Mazepa is truly an artist to watch out for on the Canadian East music scene. Sabrina's musical journey began in Vancouver BC, where she studied and perfected her love of Jazz in vocal performance and piano. This lead her to a string of solo performances, including a brief stint with the original Vancouver based band "Bi-Polar". Sabrina then focused her energies on songwriting leading her to places like San Francisco and the western coast of Mexico. In 2005, Sabrina took to the open road destined for Montreal and then Toronto in 2006, where she performed in some of the best live venues in both cities, including "The house of Jazz" - Montreal, and Sneaky Dee's and Einstein's in Toronto. Sabrina performed and collaborated with many of Toronto's local and original artists including many shared nights with the local critically acclaimed "Mellow Revs". While residing in Toronto, Sabrina was able to record one of her solo tunes "To-Run-To Nowhere" at "199 Studios". In August 2008, Sabrina decided to relocated yet again to Canada's capitol region to embark on yet another musical journey. With her now firm roots and connections in all three major cities, the fall is shaping up to be an exciting time musically. Watch out for upcoming performances in and around the Ottawa area!
Why this name?
That's easy, it's my name. :)
Do you play live?
I've played live all over the place, from cruise ships in the Caribbean, to the west coast of Mexico, to Vancouver, "The House of Jazz" in Montreal, Ein Stein's in Toronto and a local venue near you soon in Ottawa.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
More hands on easy access to independent artists that would have otherwise remained unheard. It gives the music industry and listeners a whole new approach to new music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It really depends on a lot. Sure I would Love a record deal, but it has to be for the right reasons and the right representation/distribution.
Your influences?
Too many to list, but if I had to list a few they'd be......DMB, Coldplay, OURS, Sting, Sam Roberts, Stevie Wonder, Chris Cornell, Jeff Buckley, Stars, Alicia Keys, John Mayer Trio, Daniel Lanois.....etc.
