Brian started "Audioerotica" back in '04 as his pet project, in order to bring to Calgary a great live rock show that seemed to be hard to find in the local scene. After finding capable musician's, he set-out with his new band and did well on the local "cover" circuit, making the "A" list in a very short period of time ... Audioerotica has relocated from Calgary, Alberta Canada, to Vancouver, B.C. Canada... bigger city, bigger show, bigger ego's (jk)... look-out for upcoming shows! AE is currently auditioning Singers, so contact Brian Johnson on myspace.com/audioerotica, or FB.com.
Why this name?
Brian was watching a forensic science show, where a man died by hanging himself on a door. The Coroner catagorized the cause of death as "Autoerotica"... when he heard this it occured to him that this would be a good name for a band. A friend suggested the name be associated with music... hence... "Audioerotica"!!!
Do you play live?
Yes we have played cover gigs for local Calgary bars (lots of Tool fans out there)... The Rose & Crown in Banff was one of my most memorable times.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
My opinion is... less money is needed to promote your indie band. I also feel that profits have suffered for major record labels, and the cost of quality "Home-made" recordings and making them publicly available, is getting cheaper and easier every day... thanks to websites like soundclick.com!!!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
in a heartbeat.
