Amish Noise exists only to create sounds into song.
Why this name?
It chose me.
Do you play live?
Yes I play live. Anywhere I can make it to, anywhere that wants me to. Yes I enjoy it, even when I drive 11 hours to play for 5 people, as long as one of them likes what I did then its worth it.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Gives any jackass with a computer the ability to steal your songs.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes but only if my demands are met, and those are 1 churn full of rich creamery butter and 3 loaves of fresh home baked bread must always be available to me at all times.
Band History:
Started out making recordings with a friend/roommate in WNY back in 98-2000. Left WNY to work in MA in Oct of 2000, continued to make recordings, made my first official demo in 2002 that I handed out at shows I went to, never sent any to any labels as my job was very demanding time wise and would not be able to tour.
Formed '9 volt gimmick' in boston in 2002 with a few people, found a drummer, played shows together for a year before our drummer just vanished without a trace. Band broke up after that and I left for NM in Feb 2004. Made friends with a few musicians, made another demo in 2005, joined legendary Albuquerque punk band 'Beefcake in Chains' in 2005. Went from being the bass player, to being the drummer, to being full time 2nd vocalist. Began writing songs for Beefcake and playing shows regularly as well as playing one-off Amish Noise shows.
In 2007 became rhythm guitarist in addition to 2nd lead vocalist for Beefcake and in Oct of 2007 went on the first AMISH NOISE tour. 1 person, myself, did all the booking, driving, played all the instruments, lugged all the gear, etc. Had some good times, met some good people, made absolutely nothing when compared to what I spent on gas (+$450 in gas vs. +$20 in merch and/or payment from clubs/bars). Mostly traded my merchandise for food and/or a place to sleep. Tour ended at the end of Nov 2007 with a return to ABQ show with Beefcake in Chains.
2008: Beefcake had troubles finding a drummer, while work was preventing me from doing Amish Noise shows as well. Still managed to play here and there with both bands, even playing an opening set as Amish Noise and a closing set with Beefcake at times. Best show ever was June 2008 in Pueblo, CO. Very enthusiastic crowd, had an excellent time, made more money at that show then I did at any show Ive ever played in any state. And the show was free, only suggested donations. Now looking to continue Amish Noise, record a proper album, find others to create other bands and make some loud music.
Your influences?
MELVINS, BORIS, doom, stoner rock, sludge, Justin Broadrick, ELECTRIC WIZARD, SLEEP, KOOL KEITH, the old generals: ZAPPA, SABBATH, KING CRIMSON, ZEPPELIN, IRON MAIDEN, CTHULTHU. Tape loops, dirty cassettes, warped vinyl, wax paper.
Favorite spot?
Places to play: PUEBLO. Places to do stuff: Boston/Cambridge. Home: LKPT
Equipment used:
Anything that makes noise. Lean towards old recording gear (use a combo of a tascam 4-track and my dad's 60's reel to reel, only use computer for mixing/mastering). AMPS: AMPEG SVT (all tube head), SWR workingman for drum machine which is a BOSS DR-670, various pedals, peavey fury 4 string and fender jazz bass 5 string (it doesnt have to cost a million dollars to sound good). Various others.
Anything else...?
Currently seeking anyone in the buffalo ny area willing to create heavy music. Must be able to play one or more of the following: bass, drums, guitar. I am best on bass and vocals, good on drums, guitar is pretty limited to punk stuff, good at playing anything once i get the hang of it. Must be open to incorporate all my loves: punk, doom, thrash, grind, sludge, stoner rock, metal, psychedelic rock, classic rock, rap (yes I said rap, and not in a new metal way, think more kool keith/dr octagon). Contact if interested. Have transportation, gear, p.a. and have played live plenty.
