play lo-fi play hi-fi  Something I Probably Cannot Afford
Perhaps Concentric started as an idea - to help break Austin out of its blues-rock-post-punk-singer-songwriter-jam-band rut and put some new sounds and ideas on the map. Two years and several band members later, Concentric has arrived - ready to jazz-rock your ass to musical liberation. A bass-drums-sax trio, Concentric’s jazz meets rock meets hip-hop approach is bolstered by synths and samples, melding recognizable sounds into something defiant and new. Our music draws elements from electric Miles Davis, Tortoise, and Medeski Martin and Wood - but is also the fresh, ingenious, and original Concentric sound that’s been brewing below the surface of the local music scene for nearly two years. And now after more brews than we can remember, we're taking to the stage in cool shirts to give the audience something they won't find elsewhere.

Why this name?
Concentric is the opposite of eccentric. The music draws on a number of influences. While not eccentric the music is eclectic. Dig?

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Mp3's and the internet allow someone who has a unique sound to reach distant audience members. This technology helps bridge the gap that used to be between us.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
perhaps, but it would have to be for lots of guaranteed money for me to quit my day job.
Band History:
Concentric has had a number of fine musicians on its roster in the past three years. Recently, the band has moved forward as a trio to great success. This new trio sound is captured on our independent released CD.
