The Finger is a Southern California recording project led by guitarist Robert Kerns. The music features Robert on guitars and vocals accompanied by various friends on other instruments. Some of the other musicians involved are Don Read on bass, Phil Stranglefoot on drums, Robert Nicolas on guitar and Billy J. Stynchfinger on keys.

With a background in hard edged rock and roll, a bit of edumacation in jazz, and in recent years, strong interest in guitar synthesizers, it's no wonder The Finger has such a schizophrenic sound.

This page has now become a place where I can upload demos of my Axe-FX meanderings for friends and band members to check them out. For the real band page go to Vicious Yuppies.
Why this name?
It started out as a dumb joke and it kind of caught on. Besides, it's a lot of fun to get in front of a crowd and yell out "Everybody give me The Finger!" At least I know they appreciate the band.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Hopefully it will put the power (and the money) in the hands of the artists and not in the pockets of the huge record companies.
Your influences?
Early Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Michael Schenker, Steve Vai, Nine Inch Nails. I like anything with crunchy loud guitars played by people who actually know how to play and a lot of stuff with dirty, evil sounding synths.
Favorite spot?
Anywhere I can get a Pan Galactic Gargleblaster for less than 2 quid.
Equipment used:
Axe-FX Ultra, Warmoth Guitar, Brian Moore guitars, Gibson SG, SONAR 8.51, BFD 2, UAD-1, Voxengo plug-ins.
Anything else...?
Send me money. I don't hate my day job, but if I can make some money playing music I'd be happy to give it up.
