Snakes-n-Angels is a 3-piece rock/blues/pop group from NC.They have 2 awesome vocalists, which give the listeners a variety in styles.Their music combines the layered, keyboard sounds of pop-rock with the bluesy grit of their own sounds from the South.
Nannette goes up in the stratosphere with her vocals, while keeping the low end with her growling bass guitar. She writes the majority of the lyrics for the band.
JC masters the stringed instruments:acoustic & electric guitars, dulcimer, bazouki, and keyboards. He also provides the other lead vocals, writes all musical arrangements, and is a wiz in the studio.
Why this name?
Our name originated in the summer of '89.Basically,pet names for each other. It just seemed to fit.Alot of clubs in the beginning wouldn't hire us,because they thought we were a heavy metal band. That was when we were just doing an acoustic duo-type show.
Over the years, people now know us as that and alot of people actually call JC, "Snake" and me, "Angel".Every 'new' bar we play, someone always wants to know "Who's the snake?Who's the angel?""What does that mean?"Oh well, use your imagination!
Do you play live?
Yes.We don't play as much as we'd like, because we're in a very isolated area,(musically). We play in NC now,but hope to start playing in other areas more in 2000.We have a great time every time we play and the crowds are responding very well to our original music.
If you make it big..?
If we were to make it big,we would be very excited because we've worked very hard at this for 10 years. We would continue to work even harder at writing quality songs that both of us and the listening public would enjoy! We would definitely travel and tour in bigger, exciting cities!!
Band History:
Together since 1989,Snakes-n-Angels started out as a duo. They've performed as a 3-piece and 4-piece,but the group will always come back to JC and Nannette. They are Snakes-n-Angels.Not unlike The Eurythmics or Savage Garden.
Your influences?
Heart,Eric Clapton,Journey,Bonnie Raitt,Foreigner,any blues-based rock bands from the 70's.
Favorite spot?
The stage!!Of course!Playing our music on stage together is heaven!
Equipment used:
JC plays an Antique Gold Parker Fly Deluxe through a Line 6 Flextone. He uses an Alesis QS8.1 keyboard.Nannette plays a custom Peavey Unity bass through an Ampeg SVT3-PRO with 2 Ampeg Classic 4X10s and 1X18 cabinets.
Anything else...?
Our main goal is to keep writing and performing our songs and reach people and touch their lives through these songs.Whether its to 200,000 people or 20,we want them to hear Snakes-n-Angels and smile!
