1UP is a rap group comprised of A.Tone da Priest representing Atlanta and Sean Spellz representing New York City. With the unlikely combination of Southern and East Coast styles, the two mesh to make a fresh new sound needed in today's watered down hip hop market.
Why this name?
Cuz we stay 1UP on deez niggaz.
Do you play live?
We rock it everywhere we go, no exception...
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows free advertisement, and for people to hear talent that otherwise wouldnt breakthrough with the aid of the bullshit system in place. Not everyone got record label dollars for that payola nonsense.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Solo/Together, we would only sign if the contract matched the terms we requested. We feel that we have to much talent and ideas, to have our integrity molested be some suits sitting in an office, who dont give a f*** about the art form.
Band History:
Sean Spellz and A.Tone met in Junior High School on the Northside of Atlanta, and began sharing there vision of being on top of the rap game. Ever since then, the two of them have been perfecting there craft every chance they get.
Your influences?
All the class acts of the hip hop, ranging from Outkast to BCC to NWA. Motown music also heavily influenced A.Tone as he was growing up.
Favorite spot?
Atlanta for A.Tone, New York for Sean Spellz. ATL the homebase though for the moment.
