It all started in a dark garage one night...former bandmates Marcos Zamudio and Stephen Gonzalez hooked up whatever equiptment was functioning that day and recorded 4 songs of improvised music. Then nothing happened for a long time. Suddenly at the end of 2008, Marcos hit inspiration...or it hit him...and he started forming songs that had been brewing in his brain for the last 3 years. With a set of 6 songs ready, he agreed to play the 2008 Rogue Festival in Fresno Ca. Enlisting the aide of another former bandmate, the enigmatic Byron H Diel to play electronic percussion. The 2 piece began to form a sound of their own, combining acoustic guitar with effects in a shoe gaze manner, with electronic beats played manually over lyrics meant to make you either laugh or think. Or possibly both.

Why this name?
Uhhhh...well it's a long story and I'm not really supposed to talk about it. If you know anything about the indigenious plant life of Equador, you're getting close.
Do you play live?
We play anywhere. However, so far the only shows have been at Border's Cafe in Visalia Ca and Full Circle Brewing in Downtown Fresno Ca.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I love the free exchange of music! I think the entire music industry ought to be scrapped. What we need is a system where musicians are supported by the public...everyone pays into a fund thru taxes and those bands that are most popular get more of the share of this fund. Then we can throw the record execs out the window. Socialism you say? Laziness? Do I smell a town hall meeting?
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
On my terms, yes. Full creative control with somewhat limited touring.
Band History:
I myself have been in the following bands: Sideblind (bass, 1992-1994), Superfluid Helium 3 (bass, backing vocals, 1998-2005), Respectable Citizen (bass, 2006-present), Orequalto (voclas, guitar, 2004-present). I've been playing bass for 20 years, guitar for 11, samplers and other stuff also about 11 years. Byron Diel has been playing drums for probably longer than all that. Orequalto, as it is today, was formed in March 2009.
Your influences?
I listen to a wide variety of music. From trip hop to indie to old country to jazz, to funk to the blues...I try to internalize it all.
Equipment used:
Acoustic guitar, my voice, effects pedals, sampler. Byron plays electronic percussion pad.
