'High Child' is: Spud (guitars, vocals), Dave (bass, backing vocals), Alex (keyboards, backing vocals) and Chris (drums).
We grew up surrounded by the rolling hills of Derbyshire, with little else to do than climb trees and count sheep. We picked up some instruments, wrote some songs and 'High Child' was formed. Our music is inspired by the flare of 60s pop and the grit of 90s indie.
High Child is a truly independent band - writing, recording and producing everything ourselves. We've produced 3 demo albums since 2003, which have collectively sold over 7,000 copies. Most of the CD sales came as a result of busking around the UK for a month or two each summer.
In 2008, we are releasing our first official album, 'Yesterday Today', which is a compilation of the best songs from the demo CDs, together with some new material. The songs were re-recorded and mastered professionally, making them sound better than ever.

Why this name?
I can't remember...
Do you play live?
Yes, live gigs in London and lots of busking around Oxford and Edinburgh.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's certainly harming the major record labels, but it's not as though major labels ever sign up anyone with real songwriting talent these days.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Doubtful
