What's up PeOpLeS!!!

This is Dj Phantom representing H-Town, TX, and what i'm bringing to the world is some of the old sound mixed with some of the new flavor. I am constantly re-inventing and fine tuning my sound so that I can continue to make progress. Currently i'm over in Iraq working as a contractor, and I have been here off and on since '05. Matter of fact this is where I first started making beats, I had no clue on how to go about doing it, but my determination is what keep me going. All I had was my laptop and Fruity Loops 4, but I made it happen. My resources are still limited out here, but I find a way to express myself musically. Now it's time to see what the workd thinks about my music and get some feedback from every angle. Just another step in the evolution.

-Dj Phantom
Why this name?
I'm really not the upfront all in ya face type of guy. I like to be the one in the background making it happen, you know like the dude that no one really knows except by name. Hence, the Phantom.
Do you play live?
Right now i'm Dj'ing over here in Iraq on a military installation at the club on Saturday nights. It's cool, and it's getting even better now that more and more soldiers are coming out.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has impacted the industry tremendously both positive and negative. Before the internet was around Artist only had one way of marketing themselves or just getting the music out there, but now there are limitless options because of the internet. Even for the unsigned Artist who is trying to get a record deal the world is at their fingertips given the right marketing strategy. I think it's great.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
For me, no because i'm more of a producer and I plan on having my own independant label in the future.
Your influences?
I'd have to say Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Kanye West, 8th Wonder, Mannie Fresh, Neptunes. I really could go on and on, but these are the main guys because of what they have brought to the industry and their style.
Favorite spot?
H-Town of course, but also Tokyo
Equipment used:
My laptop, M-Audio Midi Keyboard, Yamaha WX-5 wind midi when i'm on the road. At home I use my Motif XS.
