Just Fontaine. A widescreen sonic rush
Hailing from the new Barcelona some 75 miles north of London (that'd be Northampton then..), Just Fontaine are a slightly skewed five piece, writing and playing their brand of elegantly wasted songs of suspicion and despair.
Just Fontaine deal in elegant melancholy, and their widescreen sonic rush, so much in evidence when last they played here supporting Ray, should only be magnified by the recent addition of a multi-instrumentalist to the line up. Fans of Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, the Go-Betweens or Tindersticks will lap this up. A powerful, affecting combo”

Why this name?
Named after the greatest French footballer ever ... Just Fontaine.
Blame the bass player.
Blame the bass player.
Do you play live?
We love playing live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Site's like this & MySpace etc open up the world to hear you, it can only be a good thing.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't think they would have us, as i have said , "we don't really do happy" !
Band History:
Better to tell you who we are and not where we came from.
Steve Beswick - Drums & Percussion
Steve provides the power and subtlety that allow Just Fontaine songs to swagger. Never pointlessly elaborate - unless we're talking about his drinking habits.
mc fontaine - Electronical guitars
Marks unique guitar style adds a cinematic sweep that has become a Just Fontaine trademark. Every song comes with an extra rasher ! ... and sometime a kazoo too !
Tony Mead - Acoustic guitar and vocals
He writes the songs. On first listen it seems like there are no happy endings but dig a little deeper ... on second thoughts, leave it!
Hugh Mulligan - Bass
Not one for beating around the bush. Hugh is our straight talking, no-nonsense bottom end. Simple as that.
Luke Sherwood - Piano, Trumpet, Guitar & Accordian.
Multi talented musician, vagabond and cutpurse. Luke adds an extra dimension to the songs. And ladies, yes that is his real hair.
