How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
10 years ago, I wouldnt have even thought about trying to put music on the internet
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
In order to honestly answer that question a major label would have to approach me first, right?
Band History:
Its always been said you cant fight your destiny. Music is definitely one of God's gifts and it is one Vic Freeze, commonly known as Vic Thompson takes seriously. Born in Illinois, to a young couple just out of high school, his parents made sure to let Vic see life from his own eyes on both sides of the tracks. Naturally gravitating to sports (DAD) and music (MOM), he used these activities to garner attention even as a child. After moving around during his pre-teen years from Springfield to Chicago, the Thompson family settled down in the inner-ring suburb of Bedford Heights outside Cleveland, Ohio, it was here that Vic Freeze would fall in love with hip-hop. After graduating high school and attending college, Vic teamed up with Paul Richardson, aka Paulie Rhyme, and childhood friend Andre Meeks aka Drilla, to form OnPoint Records. This record label, although short lived (1998-2000), fueled two projects "Ultraman" and "They Let Us Loose" which both received regional acclaim and radio airplay from 107.9 and many Ohio college radio stations. Focusing on production, beat making, and rhyming, Vic Freeze became one of Cleveland's underground favorites. Paulie Rhyme and Vic Freeze opened for legendary MC's such as Krs-One and Big Daddy Kane. And have shared stages with prolific hip-hop acts such as Talib Kweli, GZA, The X-cutioners, Jurassic 5, Souls of Mischief, and Del the Funky Homosapien. Although there had been no solo project, Freeze had garnered enough buzz to be featured on 3 of Dj Jack Da Rippa's World Famous mixtapes and was headed toward making some noise. But the weight of the lifestyle had Vic Thompson having to make a choice whether to move Cali with his friend, mentor and bandmate or continue his professional career in Ohio which made the music possible. He chose to stay. But destiny intervened, in 2005 urged to record by Rhyme, Anon (featured on L.O.E) and De-App (Ohio Soundlab), Vic Freeze went back to work releasing 2 mixtapes that both sold 500 units out of his trunk and captured the attention of Vigilant Entertainment CEO Pierre Davis. His group, Vigilant Boyz, was perfect for Vic to re-establish himself. The album "Death Wish",released in 2006 ,was well recieved but did not produce the numbers anticipated. After being featured on L.O.E ,the lead single from Paul's P.D.A LP, Vic thought with the birth of his daughter that his underachieving career may be over. But destiny intervened again, even though he hadnt performed in a year, Rhyme brought Freeze along for the highly anticipated "Green Giants Tour" which included some of the hottest mc's such as Edreys, Garbs Infinite, Tut, Loki Da Trixta, Atherton, P-Brain, Wildcore, Tah Phrum Dah Bush and Saga One. This tour brought fans out from Toronto to Brooklyn. And fueled a fire that will not be put out this time. Vic Freeze is aims to bring his brand of classic hip-hop back to the game. Bringing that uncanny flow that touches every subject from the streets to the church. You can not ignore your God given gifts and talent.
