No, except to play bass in blues jams.

Tremendously. The playing field is level -- at least for a while.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe. I enjoy being an Indie. It's an emotionally fulfilling track even if there's less money to be had.

I have been composing music for many years and I play several instruments.

The Beatles, Patrick O'Hearn, Miles Davis, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Tool, Nine Inch Nails.
