How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

IN A BIG WAY - Mp3 allows a music file to be compressed to a size that is small enough to now distribute via the net.
This has opened up doors that cut out the businesses exploiting the distribution side of the value chain.
It's good for artists, good for producers, good for vocalists - great for innovation and creativity - good for allowing people to express their thoughts and for the spread of information..... BAD FOR MONEY GRABBERS...
However the distribution of free and pirated music via file-sharing has now meant that musicians rely solely on live performances for the majority of their income resulting in gigs becoming a thing of the best. As we see the boom of global digital information we are about to realize that distribution deals are not what they were 5 years ago.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
