AZURA SAINTS is the band formed from the ashes of PACIFIC STATE/303, ran by Saints man RICHIE "DJ RAIKKONEN" MCCOY.
New work is currently in the pipeline. New tunes, married with classic music making techniques - welcome to the church of what's happening now.
Why this name?
Azura is the favorite color of Richie and Saints is a geographical reference to where the band come from (local Rugby team). Together the two words mean blue (ambient) music from two people that work well together.
Do you play live?
Future gigs will happen. Keep it locked for more info.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
RICHIE : Easier access to tunes and exploring new music unheared the usual routes.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
RICHIE : Possibly. If the price is right. It might be better though to license out the material which is the good trend at the moment.
Band History:
Azura Saints is a reletively new project. Expect to hear some good soul and ambient music set to low-end grooves and mad tech-trickery. And maybe a touch of Acid-Soca as well.
Your influences?
Musically AZURA SAINTS are versatile. Always on a nu-skool groove of things. AZURA SAINTS don't like to be pigeon-holed because the focus is mainly on just making good music. On the focus of current material the sound is based mainly on acid breaks with soulful vocals added on top. A mixture of "Dirty" Soul / R n' B / Acid Soca / Electro-Pop & Smooth Jazz.
Favorite spot?
RICHIE - In the sac, curled up watching an episode of ThirdWatch or EuroSport, though some foreign heat wouldn't go amiss.
Equipment used:
Yamaha Synths & Drum Machines, Folio Spirit Notepad Mixer, Olivetti Pentium PC running Cakewalk Express and Rebirth-RB 338, SONY MDS-S50 (Mastering/Recording), Alesis Smashup Compressor, Midiman PC/P Parellel MIDI, Phillips SBC 1410 Mic, Alesis Mod-FX Faze, Alesis NanoVerb Digital FX, LG GR-151SSF Fridge (for keeping the tinny's cool between recording sessions).
Anything else...?
RICHIE - I just want to say to everybody checking us out, hope you enjoy what we're bringing you. It's a little bit different but we hope you guys can support the music by coming to gigs and buying the discs and most of all enjoying it.
