Why this name?
Drive Theory became our band name after adding a new member to the mix in the summer of 2008. Drive theory is a psychology theory which helps explain the audience effect. When playing a song you have been practicing by yourself you will either perform it better or worse than you do when playing by yourself depending on your preparation. You will never perform it at your normal "practice" level.
Do you play live?
We have played at the Chitchat in Haverhill, MA and hope to do more shows around the local area
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has allowed the unsigned, independent band to release music with little or no overhead cost, thereby making the music accessible to a larger audience
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, if the right deal with the right terms came about
Band History:
Drive Theory began when Craig and Kenny started jamming in the 7th grade. From there the core of what became Drive Theory went through many musicians, eventually finding Evan Cormier to play Bass. After playing for a few years as General Direction the trio became a quartet with the addition of Matty on Guitar. With the changes came a new Band Name and Drive Theory was born.
Your influences?
Our musical influences range from jam bands (Dave Matthews Band) to acoustic based pop rock (john Mayer, coldplay) to more "friendly" rock (3 doors down)
