was born in Cedar Rapids Iowa. Growing up i was always influence by rap and the hip-hop culture. But everytime i would tell a friend or a teacher i want to become a musician they would always tell me that it will never happen. That i need to find another profession because me becoming a star or a entertainer is impossible. But me always being me i would sit in my room everyday writing lyrics. everyday it would be a different topic. at the time i was only like 12-13 years old. no instrumental or anything. Just a pen, a pad, and a drive to be what i want to do in life. in 2006 i met up with the crew im currently with right now Big Bang, and they been doing some underground stuff for a while so i decided to test my luck in the booth for the first time. The first time i ever recorded i had everybody shocked because they never heard anybody with the style, wordplay, lyrical ability, swag that i have. At the same time i also was filming a documentry called shank (so hood and niggaz know) dvd. its like smack but i wanted to do a version about other rappers around iowa and the midwest. So i would go around other peoples hoods and find battles, freestyles, possibly fights or whatever. People thought i was nuts because i would just step in any hood outside the city and just start filmin random people at night. but i got so much love. Once that was released my popularity Skyrocketed because nobody has done nothin like that with cedar rapids in da past. I remember a couple of times id be at one of these malls and some people would just walk up to me like "YO THAT SHANK sh*** IS CRAZY. I didnt even know it went down like that around here" and u know people really thought i was famous or what not so id get asked for my autograph. While that was in full effected I was also doin tons of joints for Dirty money mixtape and the guerilla city mixtape. Ive got such a huge praise about those cds because NOBODY thought i could even rap like that cuz i dont fit the "typical rapper look". Right now im working on a classic album "all odds against us" Its that title because from day one ive been having to prove people wrong that im built for this game. That no matter who u are theres gonna be a song on there that u feelin. Also im sick of people not taking me serious when i tell them im from IA so once this album is release im shuttin down the underground scene and hopefully at the same time take it to the next level. Cuz real talk AMTRAK is a PROBLEM in da booth and whoever dont sign me....Will REGRET IT LATER..MARK THOSES WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
the internet can be a great thing and also a bad thing. Its good for unsign artist or underground artist looking for a buzz because its the easiest way for u to network with people and to get your music out there. it can be bad though because if your already a sign artist (or a big artist) and want to come out with a LP on a major label, people tend to download ur cd if it leaks so it will effect ur cd sells. so it can go either way.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
