Carlina is a singer songwriter who plays every other instrument too - which is why she sounds like a band.

She quit her consultig job 2 years ago, learned to play the guitar and now has recoreded 3 albums and plays wherever there is a gig opportunity.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
people can access more music that they may not have heard of in their immediate circles and can download it for free. the music industry need to protect mp3 files in the same way they protected cassettes or CDs.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
no. I would sign a n indie with a universal distribution deal. I need to manage my artistic freedoms
Band History:

* May 2006 - Bought the Acoustic guitar in Holland and had my first live gig 2 weeks later at the Sappho inAmsterdam, sponsored by the Amsterdam Songwriter's guild

* September 2006 - invited to Italy to play with Yari Carrisi and The Undercover Monks. We did a TV recorded video of my song "Tonight"

* October 2006 - first London gig at The Beaufort House, Kings Road! Since then, a steady stream of gig dates have come my way and to date I have played at the following venues:

Monkey Chews (Chalk Farm), The Harrison (Kings Cross), Beaufort House ( Kings Road), The Bosuns ( Kings Road), Cafe Suki (Osbourne Street / Brick Lane), Finnegan's Wake (Ealing Broadway), The Embassy (Angel), The Honest Cabbage (Kingston), The Globe at the Bedford and The Tavistock Room at The Bedford (Balham), Cafe de Paris (Leicester Square), Spice of Life (Cambridge Circus), Reservoir Lounge (Toronto), C'est What (Toronto).

* November 2006 - Winner of the LA Music Online for best female singer songwriter in the Classic Rock Category and nominations for best female singer songwriter in the Folk Rock and Pop Rock Categories.

* December 2006 - First album recorded. Chris Amblin was my trusty sound engineer, at his flat in Old Street. I called it "This is your time" - to mark the moment when I realise dit was now or never to pursue my passion for music.

* January 2007 - First podcast radio play. I am now a member of Podcast and my songs are getting regular play online.

* March 2007 - My spectacular birthday party with live appearances from Zoe Appleseed, Carlina and The Toots

Interviewed by The PepeShow based in L.A., USA on Skype and entire interview aired on live radio.

* April 2007 - first gig date at the Cafe de Paris.

* May 2007 - Next ten songs composed

* June 2007 - Participated in the UK Singer competition. (Why?! It's got nothing to do with songwriting, and everything to do with looks!!)

* September 2007 - 3rd gig at the Cafe de Paris in support of The Nites and possible opportunity to network with Sir Paul McCartney (altho I never saw him)!

* December 2007 - compose another 10 songs.

* February 2008 - Join www.sonicbids.com in a bid to push my music out even more. I have applied to 20 festivals and one of them since then has come back with a positive. It's like interviews and jobs. You apply for 50 and maybe get called back for interview by one of them.

* March - May 2008 - More gigs at the Cafe de paris - I was there practically every Friday.

* May 2008 - Spontaneous event outside the Cafe de Paris on the street where I get stopped by winner of the MTV rap contest ("RK") and we jam right there and then on the street and attract a small crowd taking videos on their mobile phone.

* June 2008 - Selected to play in the 2008 London City Showcase Festival (June 3rd at 16:00 at Miss Sixty/Energie near Carnaby Street).

Amusing Facts

The first music I ever bought for myself was a freebie tape promo from a Weetabix pack in the 80s. (You know, eat lots of Weetabix, collect tokens, send them off etc)with the following tracks on it:

"Wouldn't it be good" (Nik Kershaw)
"Carribbean Queen" (Billy Ocean)
"My camera never lies" (Bucks Fizz) and
"Frankie" (can't remember who )

I used to go to discos when I was little and dance like a dervish all by myself, right at the front by the DJ while my mum sat nearby until it was over!!!

I sat the associated board of music grade 8 flute and piano exams when I was 15.

I made Simon le Bon cups of tea in the studio when Duran Duran were recording their latest album.
