The Hayseeds are an original Honky Tonk band from Canada. The core of the band consists of Jeff Kirker and Karrie Galvin who are the principle songwriters. Our focus is on original alt. country songs with traditional country songs thrown in. Our covers have all been written earlier than 1972. We have been performing together in various bands since 1991.
Why this name?
I was reading Cash, the Johnny Cash biography and June Carter referred to her stage show with the Carter family as hayseeds and cornpone. Our singer didn't like Cornpone so Hayseeds it is.
Do you play live?
We play locally in Southern Ontario, Canada.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Our philosophy is that written music should be recorded to help promote the live show. If you want to make money, you have to play. The Internet opens up the audience which is good for the fan and artist.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
What are you offering?
