Codetheeves are Nick Polydor, Sam Ashby and Adrian Harris. We produce all styles of music, especially funky house, decent trance and hip-hop.
Why this name?
I (Nick) had a bit of a reputation for borrowing HTML/JavaScript code from websites, leading to the nickname of Codethief. I then thought that pluralising it would make a good bandname, so we did.
Do you play live?
We always DJ as a trio, and the biggest gig that we have done was at Leicester University about 18 months ago, to around 200 students.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows for music to be given increased exposure, to a worldwide audience. It also allows music to be heard which is not played on mainstream radio, and is a breeding ground for new and exciting types of music, which may not be given and adequate opportunity to mature and develop through other mediums.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, as this would mean that our music could receive widespread promotion on a more professional level, and getting your music heard by as large an audience as possible should always be an artist's number 1 priority. As long as I didn't feel that the label was forcing us to 'sell out' or otherwise compromise our music, I'm sure that we would sign on the dotted line.
