Chris Moncrief Biography Chris Moncrief has been studying music his entire life and performing professionally throughout the Southeast for more than ten years. At age five, he began singing at his family’s church (Highland Hills Baptist Church) in Macon, Ga. He would begin to study the guitar at fifteen. A love of Rock, Blues, Sacred music as well as Classical music has since allowed him to work within many different genres. Attending Georgia College on a music scholarship, Chris was a three-time runner up in the Georgia Classical Guitar State Championship. He would earn a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance (classical guitar) in 1996. After graduation Chris immediately began work as a private guitar instructor. He formed the rock band “red fish blu fish” in 1998 with his brother Matthew Moncrief and began performing regionally. Things began to move quickly as the band gained popularity and recorded their first album. While playing their hometown of Macon that same year, Chris would meet his future wife Amy Grant. The two were married in 1999. His band would record two more albums, but began performing less frequently. Chris and Amy were blessed with their first child in 2001 prompting Chris to move his family to Savannah, Georgia in order to pursue a more “family-friendly” career as a musician. In 2002 Chris Moncrief began performing with Westwind Entertainment out of Hilton Head, SC and has since performed Classical Guitar standards for numerous weddings, dinner parties, and art galleries entertaining various clients including some celebrities and politicians. In addition, he accepted a position as Music Director/Athletic Coach at Providence Christian School in 2004. At PCS, he would form and oversee a student praise band that would, within a year, begin booking shows at area churches and as well as other Christian functions. In 2006, Chris would engineer and produce a Providence Praise Band Christmas album. Chris Moncrief has performed on four of his own albums, two “Morning Star Christmas” albums, The Pitts self-titled R&B album, and E. G. Kite’s “Nuthin’ But the Blues” album. Presently, Chris Moncrief maintains a successful private lesson practice and regularly performs for Westwind Entertainment clients. He is also a Music and Praise Band Leader at Chatham Parkway Baptist Church in Savannah. He and Amy have been married for nine years and have two children.
