I am Marga Jee, a singer and songwriter.
I often perform live with a band called The Soulchasers, that through the years has featured some of best Pune musicians. It was born in 2004 after meeting Derek Julien, guitar player, and Jack Barde, drum player, from Pune, on the ground of our common love for blues and soul. We met by chance and since then we have been working together teaming up with best Pune based and traveler musicians such as Rose Eilert, Varun Venkit, Rushad Mistry, Khoji Prem, Sheri Tacci, Angelo Notte, Paola Pawan, Veet Marco, Chris Fonceca, Mike Pereira, Among Jamir, Vatayan, Dhinesh, Khalid, Almasta, Halima, etc.
Since 2007 we shifted from playing cover songs to playing also original songs composed by me.
For this purpose we are now trying to establish a definite and steady band to make a CD and tour India.

Why this name?
The Soulchasers comes from the feeling we all have in music... that of catching the soul, the inner depth, and express to our audience from that space... It is not only about performing... it is more about sharing what we are as artists and receiving the warmth and the appreciation from the public!
Do you play live?
We play quite often in best Pune venues, like Shisha, Gaya, High Spirits... We love it, every gig is a special moment...
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Radically an drastically... all is easier and at the same time we are all in a great crowd...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't know... I will tell u when I will have the chance to be asked!
Your influences?
A lot of influences as a background... from the Beatles to Aretha Franklin, from Big Mama Thornton to Neil Young, from Nina Simone to Jeff Buckely. But what comes out is a synthesys of many years of live performing and songwriting, two totally difference experiences... the first is being out, extrovert, the second is being in, introvert.... eventually the two things merge... I love distorted and reverbered guitars and great soul singing... the mix is strange to m ears. I would say a mix of grunge and soul... ahahahah
Favorite spot?
Pune is a great place to live... it is a special energy. I came all teh way to italy to live here...

A PRS guitar and a mike when I am alone. With the band the whole range of drums, guitars, bass and keyboards
