I am Mikayla Lee and I hope you enjoy my music! My debut album is entitled, "Might As Well Be Me" and was recorded in the birthplace of country music...Bristol, VA!
Do you play live?
I sing live all over the state of Oklahoma and Texas.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet has opened peoples eyes to a wider range of music and artistry.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, but only if I felt it would benefit my music. I don't want to sign with a label and lose the ability to have a voice in what I sing.
Your influences?
My earliest influence was Kirk Franklin. Later when I discovered Dolly Parton's not so well known work I fell in love with her songwriting. Currently, I listen to all genres of music. I think my background in dance helped me to appreciate music as an art and not be so boxed in to any one style.
Favorite spot?
I fell in love with Nashville the first time I visited, but Bristol was really great, too. I like being in a city, but it still feeling country.
