play lo-fi play hi-fi  Dark end of the street
play lo-fi play hi-fi  It had to be you
play lo-fi play hi-fi  Straighten up and fly right

play lo-fi play hi-fi  Come fly with me
Nigel Bury Swing Vocalist.

Having just left a Rock band as the lead vocalist I'm still finding my feet within the jazz genre. I have found myself having to learn how to sing all over again, but thats part of the fun.
I'm trying to keep a raw feel to the vocals as I don't like the influence R&B singers have had on other genres (you don't need to use the entire vocal scale to sing one note) but having said that I am still experimenting with my own voice and have started to soften the notes.
Why this name?
My parents chose it (I was too young to choose my name silly!)
Do you play live?
Yes I play live all over the Manchester area
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course but not likey to happen in the real world
Band History:
Nigel first started singing in High School when he joined the schools modern choir and from then on he was hooked! After leaving school he trained as an engineer but always hoped that one day he would fulfil his dream of becoming a professional singer.

At the age of 25 Nigel first taste of entertaining when he became a Professional DJ specialising in Weddings. It was at one such wedding that fate would play a big part in his future. Nigel had been booked as the DJ and was to work along side a professional singer who had also been booked to perform at the wedding. Unfortunately the singer didn't turn up and the Bride very upset as she had promised all her guests that she had booked a singer. Nigel seized the opportunity and offered to step and sing as well as DJ. Well the night was a great success and Nigel was now more determined than ever to become a professional singer.

At the age 28 Nigel joined the rock band One In Ten as a founder member and the lead singer. He remained the lead singer of One In Ten for 9 years and the band is today one of the leading rock cover bands in the Northwest, playing all the major venues including the Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester. Despite the success of the band and Nigel's love of rock music, it wasn't where his heart truly lay, and so he made the hard decision to leave the band and finally make his dream come true.

Nigel first fell in love with swing music when he was knee high to a grass hopper. Listening to the music his parents played he was hooked, and after hearing Michael buble for the first time he knew that only Swing music would make him truly happy.

Nigel has always strived to be the best that he can be and so he enlisted the help of a specialist jazz vocal coach to fine tune his talent, he even took up Tap dancing lessons (which he admits is the hardest thing he has ever done). Now that hard work has paid off and the results...... Well why not book him and find out.
