I am a rapper filled with Holy Spirit of God out to make proclaim liberty to those captive. I believe in the tangible Glory of God being present on earth and I seek to tap into God's presence and I seek to be filled with His Presence. Moses said that if God's presence doesn't go with someone how can anyone tell that we are His children. My message is about lives being changed by storytelling and being used in the gift of prophecy, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, gifts of healings, tongues, interpretation of tongues, gift of faith, working of miracles and the discerning of spirits. My songs are raw and not always for the believer. Light belongs in the darkness. I am just one rapper called to be a voice for God in the underground.
Why this name?
God gave me the scripture as iron sharpens iron so a one man sharpens another. So therefore Iyearn is iron just a little twist. The name has two meanings. I seek to be sharpened by others and I seek to sharpen others. We all need to be refined for the Glory of God. The other meaning is I yearn for God and His glory and power and above all His character. So Iyearn is iron and I yearn together.
Do you play live?
I "perform" at MIHOP(Maryland House of Prayer). I am using beats by soundclick member. All beats I am using are owned by their respective owners and I am in no way making any money from these songs.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is good for spreading the Good News and making a broader spectrum of people to be able to hear "your" music. It can be hard of the financial part but when you own nothing it ok. I never had the internet back in the day. I used just buy cassettes and I guess now cds. I don't even have an ipod I can get music with. My boy puts songs on it for me.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It would be great as long as the my message, which is His message, is not watered down and creativity is not stifled.
Your influences?
Back in the old days it was; Bone Thugs n Harmony, Eminem, 50 cent, Mobb Deep, Biggie, 2 Pac, Cypress Hill, Atmosphere, Black Eyed Peas, Nappy Roots, D 12(a little), Nas, Kanye West, Killa Army, little but not much of DC's go-go music, Black Rob, Shyne, thats it for now.
Redeemed ways; Flame, KJ-52, Phanatic, Manafest, Japhia Life, Rob Hodge, Ahmed Jones, Mars Ill, Deepspace 5, Pigeon John, Pettidee, Cross Movement(in general), thats all I can think of for now.
