Lindsay D'arcy, is an English singer/songwriter based in Praha Czech Republic: a sort of lo-fi singer songwriter
Why this name?
It is my given middle names - from a grandfather and uncle.
Do you play live?
sometimes - I prefer small, intimate, venues - cafe bars
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
many aspects have changed - creating independence but also a quagmire of density, which at once is liberating but also suffocating, and riddled with a new kind of exploitation. As an Independent artist the Internet has allowed me to reach genuine listeners, which 10 years ago I could not do - my record company then released white labels and sold them from cars for example to build a grass roots support base but these days we have to use myspace, websites and communities to be heard. The most rewarding thing is when I receive an email from some part of the world I could not have imagined - I have alot of listeners in the USA for example and think I will go and play a few dates next year - the Internet has let me see where I should go to, which is invaluable really. I also like to release songs as they happen (unproduced) and the internet has given me the ability to do so :-)
I like the honesty of a as it happens track and so do my listeners. It's another benefit of the internet for indie artist's. I have had two record deals - both pretty much did nothing for us but that was some 15 years ago... a different world. Picking up the guitar again and writing that first lyric in Siberia was quite strange - but the internet has allowed me to write freely, independently again - and actually meet some amazing, sensitive, souls out there that has enriched my life... and what else could music be for if not that.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
