I think from reading your words, you may be to hard on yourself.I am a songwriter also over 1000 songs, but I am also a solo artist and singer etc.
Let me say, this song is great musically and lyrically. but your voice is one of the strongest elements of the song, you have a modern and retro sound also a unique sound to your voice, I would say you are no beginner from what I am hearing.
