Why this name?
We wanted a name that conveyed the idea of blending the old and the new, and we carried this theme through some of our album titles as well: "Castles and Skyscrapers", "Myths and Urban Legends". It's also representative of our music, since we perform both traditional ballads along with modern original songs.
Do you play live?
We enjoy performing live at science fiction/fantasy and music conventions, weddings, children's concerts, open mikes, and libraries. We've been lucky enough to be Guests of Honor at several conventions hosted in cities far from our own - including one in New Jersey, two in California and one in the UK.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes it far more accessible for anyone that wants to participate in the music industry. Getting music out there is far easier - though there's lots more "stuff" to get through in order to be heard, too. It can certainly be a mixed blessing! But all in all, it has probably helped fans get more of what they really want: Good Music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No.
Your influences?
Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, James Taylor, Barenaked Ladies, Great Big Sea, Stan Rogers, James Keelaghan & Indigo Girls

Review of "Myths & Urban Legends" CD:
"What we have here, is a success to communicate. Now, Urban Tapestry is inhabited by 3 weird folk women who believe that the past should be visited upon the present. Therefore, you get your 'Technonerdboy' and 'Web Surfin'', sandwiching the 14 songs actually, spun in an acoustic, well, folk way that makes you smile, laugh out loud, hmmmm, or hit the guy next to you. Lyrically, they can't be beat. They do come up with some clever and cute twists and ideas. 'Sex and Chocolate' comes immediately to mind. Hard to believe it's clocked at less than 3 minutes, considering all the images and HA! they cram into this tale of a woman's 2 favorite pastimes. Tain't all humor, don't you worry. There is sheer beauty, brought into being by just 3 charmed souls. Allison Durno is vocals and guitar. Jodi Krangle is vocals and piano. Debbie Ridpath Ohi is flute and tambourine. Nice, flowing harmonies follow throughout the entire piece. What a team!"
