My name is Danny Sadistic and I'm an underground rap artist from Ohio.
Why this name?
Not much to it really. My name is Dan, I went by Danny growing up. I have a f***ed up mind and people would say I was sadistic, so I just put it together. I actually first used the name when I was wrestling on local independent shows back in 2002. I didn't use it as my rap handle until 2004.
Do you play live?
Not in a few years. Back in '05 and '06, when we were doing Asylum Of Darkness, we played some shows in and around Cleveland, Ohio, opening for Tech N9ne, Esham, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, and others. The last show I was a part of was like 5 years ago in August of 2006, so it's been a while. I'd like to perform live again, but it's been so long, I'm sure I'd be nervous as hell again.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It definitely makes it easier to be heard, because you can reach people all over the world without leaving the house. But, at the same time, it's caused the market to become flooded. Anyone with a computer and a microphone can record an album nowadays, which can be a problem, because there is a lot of garbage out there. At least by being able to sell digital downloads, you really don't need a record label to put your product out, you can do it yourself.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It depends. I wouldn't want to compromise the artistic freedom I have now, because that keeps making music fun, but at the same time, it would be nice to be able to make a living off of this.
