"...Bring Back Joel is essentially their own entity. Slightly insane, dizzying, very tight and dare I say...? Original." (JAM Magazine)
"With proper production, there may be a slew of singles good enough for the pop/punk/ska radio of today. And if mainstream radio disagrees, then this band will own the college stations throughout the Southeast. Be careful not to ignore this one." (Axis Magazine)
"I have yet to see a local band deliver a performance as energetic, as raw, or as infectious as Bring Back Joel. ... Bring Back Joel is the kind of band that will make you remember why you love rock and roll. Somebody give these guys a record contract!" (Nightlife Orlando)
"It's nice to know that even this late in the 90s, when "alternative" music is really just top 40 mainstream rock, to discover a group that really embodies what "alternative" is all about. Bring Back Joel... employs vocal samples, distorted guitars, and other things to prove that rock music doesn't have to be boring anymore" (Buzz Magazine)

Why this name?
Basically it was a process of elimination. Since none of us could agree on one name, we just tried to find something we did agree on. The only thing we could come up with was that we liked Joel better than Mike as the human on Mystery Science Theater 3000, so we went with that.
Do you play live?
Yeah...we play a lot. Mostly in Central Florida...Orlando is our home base. Playing live definitely allows you a different kind of connection to the audience...so we try and take advantage of it. We've been lucky to play with some great bands like Superchunk, the Poster Children, Frogpond, Buck Jones, the Push Stars, Bughead, Truck Stop Love, Shyster, etc.
If you make it big..?
We're gonna make lots and lots of records.
Band History:
In 1994, when there wasn't much to do in Western Kansas, four college students got together and started creating noisy pop songs that were catchy as hell. In an environment of metalheads and country western bars they garnered little attention but were determined enough to record a demo only after four months of playing together. This demo was heard completely by chance by legendary singer Genya Ravan who was working with CBGB's management. Ravan invited BBJ to record an album in NYC under her production. That session, along with a few other tracks recorded later, became "Sampo", Joel's first album. Released in early 1996, it was received well in the Midwest and was promoted by sporadic touring throughout that year.
In early 1997 BBJ moved to Orlando is search of a more suitable scene for their music and quickly became known in town for their high energy live shows. After creating a sizable following, BBJ released "Deep Within the Irrational Behavior Ward" in November of that year. Recorded and mastered in only seven days and containing 19 catchy songs with a sound uniquely their own. It garnered rave reviews from the public and local music critics.
