Welcome to Negative Space.
We are a 4-piece rock/ metal band from County Antrim in Northern Ireland; formerly a Metallica covers band who have started performing our own material.
FUNK - Vocals / Lead Guitar
JAYMZ - Vocals / Rhythm Guitar
WiG - Bass
BERNaRD - Drums
Why this name?
None of us really know... there are two generally accepted theories.. both of which take far too long to explain, but if you turn up at our next gig and ask us we'll let you know in person.
Do you play live?
Of course, playing live music is what being in a band is all about. The adrenaline you get from a live gig is overwhelming, and I think more or less everyone accepts that music sounds better live than in any format.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives developing artists the scope to have their music heard by far more people than they would ever originally have hoped so soon after forming.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, as long as we weren't made to change our music or approach.
Band History:
Formed from the ashes of a Metallica cover band, Negative Space was born in early October 2002. After spending most of Christmas writing material in their home made practice room, known to them as “The Capsule”, the band ventured out onto the Northern Ireland music scene where they have played several gigs in and around the Belfast and Downpatrick areas. They released a 2 track demo in mid 2003, a 5 track EP in April 2004, and have been gigging ever since, writing new material for their forthcoming release (hoped to be a full album, somewhere this side of christmas). Having played several key Belfast gigs, the band are now keen to make their way onto the Dublin circuit and spread the metal word south \m/ >_< \m/

Eager to play more and more gigs, they have no intention of slowing down their hunt for fame.

Your influences?
Since 3 of the 4 of us were originally in a Metallica covers band, it seems obvious that our biggest influence should be Metallica themselves. On top of that, Korn, Pantera, Alice In Chains, Puddle Of Mudd, Saliva, Pearl Jam, SOiL, Mudvayne, Soundgarden, Rod Stewart.... the list goes on.
