Band Biography

By Ben Woods (Student Press)- Excerpts from Interview with JK

It was late 2000 when “D-VOID” was born, kicking and screaming they came into the world, eager to write songs.

“D-VOID” mix emotions, melody, along with heavy grooves

“D-VOID” brings this hybrid style of funk, groove, and rock direct to your brain. Music which combines the energy of such great bands as Faith No More and Rage Against The Machine, with the melody and ability of Incubus, Chilli Peppers & Led Zeppelin.

And after witnessing “D-VOID” live, I agree when the band say that their music has “bigger balls than King Kong and more hooks than Hellraiser”.

“We like to have fun as much as the next person, never taking ourselves too seriously.” Yet, their music has a professionalism and underlying depth which demands a ‘serious’ listen.

With their songwriting ability continuing to mature, first with the “Down In Codes” Promo then with the infectious “Comfort In Confusion” Promo, and now ‘The GrooveTube E.P’, it can clearly be heard that they are more than ready to take their deserved place in the world music scene.

Response from their live shows has been very positive, “live is where “D-VOID” are at our best, it’s a time to let off steam and play the songs how they should be heard. LOUD!” The first thing I noticed was their connection with the audience, they are able to relate to the crowd, because (as is obvious) they are fans of music themselves. “I love performing and watching live music, the energy generated between the band and the crowd is beyond compare”.

With the current Rock / Metal scene enjoying the popularity it’s (always) deserved, I know that D-Voids music has a global audience ready and waiting.

Don’t just take my word for it, put on the CD, turn it up loud and let D-VOID do the talking.

D-VOID- “Dude, we have more groove than the Grand Canyon!! Ha ha!” JK (Vocals)
Why this name?
The band name was decided by all members thinking of names off top of head, then it was a case of lucky dip-
We wanted a name that was early on in the alphabet- but fellow Lowestoftians the Perry brothers already stole "A" for their band name (Hi guys!) so we decided on D-VOID as A-Void was not the best name I think you'll agree- In the end it doesn't really matter what the band is called- it's the music that says it all, the name is just recognisable marketing requirements!! ha Ha!
Do you play live?
We do gig, but obviously not as often as we would like- usually due to financial reasons or that the right support doesn't come along- we would play anytime to get our name out their and our music heard. We try to get out of town gigs, London, Cambridge and Nottingham, Loughbourgh have been killer gigs. all members of the band have done many gigs-
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Music gets out there instantly and further around the world than ever expected possible. I think it is incredible and cool that a band can get their music heard on the other side of the world so easily now, and it is a great help in promoting underground up and coming acts. www.dvoidmusic.com
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
NO!!!! well...... OK then, if you insist. Ofcourse we would consider any offer made, but every contract would be negotiated for as much freedom as possible, this is difficult with Majors who usually want a fast buck!, Major labels have the credibility and financial clout to promote a band effectively, and get the music out there and heard. If no-one knows you exist then it doesn't matter how great your music is does it!!!!??? bring them on, we'll make 'them some money and keep 'them happy- ha ha!

Varied influences, most good, well played music as long as they believe in it and play with passion. Not all influences are conscious!
Influences on D-Void's sound (from reviews) would I'd say be, bands we respect like Red hot chilli Peppers, Incubus, Faith No More, Rage Against the Machine, Deftones
