What's good my name is Kenyon The DAWN. I been rapping for about 5 years professionally I'm unsigned and running my own indie label. I'm just tryna get on and get up ya dig.
Why this name?
I chose that name because I consider myself a new style rapper. The DAWN is the coming of a new day. I'm the coming of a new rapper
Do you play live?
Yes. To book me for a live performance just hit me up and let me know I'll be there.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It changes it because it makes artists that may not be with a major label accessible. Some of my favorite artists haven't even got out they back yard yet you feel me.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah if they were talking about real dollars and real exposure. For right now though hell no.
Band History:
In 2004, The DAWN moved to Fayetteville, AR to pursue college. While school was on his mind he continued to hone his craft after starting a rap crew, FAN 4. "I really needed those guys to help me in learning how to be a better artist," The DAWN reveals. After a year of shows and an underground mix tape The DAWN went on to pursue his first solo career.

Ironically, it was at FAN 4's last staged performance that The DAWN started his career. The night of his performance he met KamKizon, then local music producer, and started writing and recording songs through Crisp Recording Studios. "I really thought he had what I was looking for, a conscience rapper with a youthful street look on life," said KamKizon. "Meeting Cam (KamKizon) was a blessing in disguise, because he encouraged me to make my first LP," said The DAWN. By 2005, Kenyon "The DAWN" was a campus wide name.

"First, I started giving my myspace address out around campus, and after I won the talent show it was like everybody knew my name," Dawn explains. "Then after that things just kept getting better they started selling my CD on campus," he asserts. After 2 years of local fame and the formation of a new group, the K&K boys, titled after The DAWN's first Indie Label K&K Unlimited productions, The DAWN felt he was ready for the main stage. The "main stage" stands for the music industry.

At first glance, you wouldn't guess that The DAWN was a rap artist, but his lyrics speak for themselves. Currently, The DAWN is exploring his options and looking for a major label to sign with, or to absorb his Indie label. "He the main rap figure on campus, and could do big things," proclaims a fan. The DAWN's new single How U Do It features Shanita Arnold, Lady Back guard at the University of Arkansas. While still fresh off the press the song looks to be promising. Other songs featured include Reggie Fish of the Razorback football team, Whitney Jones, and Brittney Vaughn of the Lady Backs.

With so much on his plate it is amazing how the DAWN stays inspired. "I mean I am really influenced by my peers, not a day goes by that friends are asking me when my next song is coming out, or when I'm going to be on BET, but I am mostly inspired by my family. I have 7 sisters and 3 brothers, and to be honest I make my music for them," he pauses and then continues. "I know that if I just follow the steps of other greats like 2Pac, Nas, or Jay-Z something will happen eventually." It sounds like he really looks forward to bigger opportunities to come knocking at the door.
Your influences?
2PAC, NAS, Jay-Z, 50 cent, BIG, & Eminem. I'm just proud to be apart of an industry with so many great artists - past, present, and future.
