Well, I'm G.E.D. I've moved around lots of places (New Jersey, CT, Florida and Virginia) but now I've settled back in CT and I've finally found a place to call home. When it comes to music, I don't play around. Music=Life in my eyes (what up JMC, no pun intended). But anyway, I'm no gangster, no bubble-gum rapper, and I don't need to make up a dance to sell records either. I just do me.
Why this name?
It's actually my initials, I care not to share my name on the internet, security reasons.
Do you play live?
I've been holding down the FHS talent show for 3 years now, I also do band nights and acoustic nights. So, yeah I play live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's bittersweet. While it's a lot more efficient and you get more recognition, you also gotta watch out for biters and computer hackers who want to jack your songs. It's an amazing thing but you gotta be careful.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah, but not at the expense of losing my self-identity or my original sound. I'm not from the south, I'm from CT!! The 860 has their own sound, I intend on keeping that way.
Band History:
Well, it all started like this:
I was extremely interested in Hip-Hop, I liked the sound of scratching. And I thought that I wanted to be a DJ. But then my cousin (what up MDG) basically inspired me to rap and taught me how to make beats. Now it was nothing professional, I started making beats on MTV's Music Generator for Playstation 1. That's where I first learned how to sample too, and I'd take some of the high school's recordings and sample them. That's where I created my sound from. But anyways, along came Real Life Recordz...
Before Real Life Recordz, I formed and little group called Da Militia. Back in 6th grade, I was at a school dance (or what they called a "social") and I asked a group of people if they wanted to get in a cipher they agreed, I went first, spit a little freestyle. And I will not forget this tall chubby kid (now known to you as T.Willz) steps up and spit a 16 that had me blown out of my mind!! And since that day T.Willz and I have been friends and partners in rhyme.
In middle school we met this kid Kris who went by the name of DJ Twist at the time. We were in a prodominantly caucasian school so all black kids had to stick together. So we invited this kid to the table, we wanted to freestyle, and he hopped in it. We were pretty impressed so we formed Da Militia. I told the kids about my Music Generator beats and they were feeling them so we made songs together, although we had no place to record, nor the money to buy equipment. But by high school, Militia had already went their separate ways due to big egos.
At the beginning of sophomore year, I met JMC through a mutual friend of ours (Luv U Honey!!). He was a rapper and at the time I considered myself a producer. I gave him a sample of what I had and he made me an honoree member of the now-dead "Lock Down Unit". So after the tragic fall of LDU, he decided to make his own crew, Real Life Recordz. I couldn't go in without T.Willz so I put him on. And it's been popping ever since the beginning of 2007!
