I make strictly real hip hop music. I believe in making music at its pureist form. I don't make music for radio or to sell records. I dont have anybody telling me what to write or what beat to make. My music comes from the heart and I work extremely hard on it. I control every aspect of my music. I write, produce, mix, DJ, and I also handle the business end of my music. My mission in life is to bring real hip hop back.
Why this name?
Well my name is Avery and people call me Ave. There are not very many MC's anymore in rap so the name MC Ave fits me perfectly because I myself and am MC.
Do you play live?
I do play live around my area. I love performing, I love the vibes from the crowd. I think performing is the epidomy of hip hop music. Theres nothing better than a bunch of hip hop heads screaming and having a good time.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet made the music industry more commercial. In a way it ruined music, but it also helps it. Without the internet, nobody would Know my name, but also without the internet, fake rap artists wouldn't be as big as they are. Its a double sided coin.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would love to. I would never sign a contract if I did not have ALL creative control. I would rather be poor and continue what I do now, than have somebody telling me how to make my music. I would not except the offer, even if it was a million dollars.
Band History:
I started to write rhymes about six years ago. I started writing because I was sick of hearing bad music. One day I started rhyming in my head. I grabbed some paper and wrote it down. Ever since then I continue to grow lyrically and artistically. I have only been producing and recording music for three years. I bought an MV 8800 recently and the rest was history.
Your influences?
Real hip hop music. Mostly GZA and RZA from Wu-Tang. They inspired me to write music and make beats because in my opinion, they are the best. Pete Rock is one of my favorite producers, he influenced me a lot. Gangstarr, Little Brother, Boot Camp, and Dj Jazzy Jeff are a few others. There are too many others to name.
Favorite spot?
I love giong to New Jersey. My family is from Jersey and Its a really dope place. I also like NYC.
Equipment used:
To produce and record I use a Roland MV-8800 and/or a computer. I also use a Numark XJ Pro hybrid turntable, and I just purchased a Behringer Xenyx 1204 FX mixer. I also have a Edirol PCR-500 MIDI keyboard, and A MXL microphone. Those are the tools I use in the lab.
Anything else...?
My first album was called "The Day The Music Died Pt. I."
