Welcome to Coffee In Zurich, now in it's 30th year, we are aiming to get our entire back catelogue on line over the next twelve months (which will be no mean feat) Here's a taster to get things started
Why this name?
The name of the band was born out of one of our songs at the time. It was in the late punk / new romantic period when everything sounded more interesting than your average daily lives, but we didn't want to be too remote, like OMD or Ultravox - so Coffee In Zurich was both exotic and yet ordinary
Do you play live?
This is something that we are working towards at the moment
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It opens up a whole new audience, who would dotherwise not have encountered out music
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We see no problem with that
Band History:
The band roots go all the way back to 1978, more here later...
Your influences?
In the early days, it was the synth pop / electronica crowd such as Soft Cell, Gary Numan, Kraftwerk, Blancmange, Spandau Ballet, John Foxx, Duran Duran - but over the years, the tastes have widen to match our lifestyles. So adding names like the Psychadelic Furs, A-ha, Queen, Sugarbabes - it's part of the ever changing make-up of the music scene
Favorite spot?
At the moment I'll say the multstorey car park in Sutton, but I'm sure that I'll have to revise that soon
Equipment used:
Over the years we've had the most fantastic time with some of the greats. The old TR808, Pro One, SH09, DX9, SY77, RX5, RY30, Drumtrak, CS6x, Motif, Motif ES, M1, Wavestation, one day I'll list them all in order and associate them with the various albums
Anything else...?
So many people have joined us along this journey, so I'll use this box to add their names in - first and foremost would be Ken - more later
